Depicted In Glass

The other day I recorded a wine glass, you know the tone you get from rubbing the edge of a the glass. It sounded cool so I tried throwing some effects on it and auto-tuning it to different notes. I then loaded the different notes in to a sampler and just like that I had a new weird sounding instrument with two full octaves. Oh, the magic of computer technology.
Anyway, my new wine-glass instrument gave me inspiration for a new song, so here it is:

Thank’s to Mats Ödahl for playing the double bass for me. The rest is performed by my-self.

Hope you enjoy!

Cathja

I’ve been renting a small room for a while now where I keep my drums, mostly for practicing, but I also find it really inspiring to experiment with recording. Even though the room is far away from ideal for the purpose and doesn’t sound good at all the challenge still keeps it interesting. The drums are cheap and the room still needs a lot of treatment but you work with what you’ve got.
So recently I wrote and recorded a new song to which I recorded the drums there and the rest – bass, acoustic and electric guitar – in my apartment.

Hope you enjoy it!

Rhapsody In All Colors

Recently I helped a friend of mine, Matias Långbacka, to record and mix the debut performance of his piece “Rhapsody In All Colors” at Schauman Hall. The music is a grand mixture of different styles, from classical to jazz. I think the result is really great. The composition is fantastic and the band pulled it off really well. I recommend you have a listen:

Hipster Slayer – In Space (live @ Fäboda)

Indie-rock band Hipster Slayer recently recorded a live video of their song “In space” out by the beautiful Finnish archipelago at Fäboda in Jakobstad, to which I did the audio recording. It’s a really great band with a wonderful song worth checking out, and I’m really impressed with the filming and video editing. Have a look:
